EPISODE 5594 - Wednesday 1 October 2003 at 7:30pm

After a heart to heart Karen apologises to Steve for all the hurtful things she said, and tells him she loves him and wants to call the divorce off for good. But after a mad dash to Weatherfield county court to save their marriage, she is too late and their divorce is absolute. However, softy Steve surprises his ex wife in a romantic setting that melts her heart.

Martin and Katy feel the effects of their public love affair and are disowned by their families. Even Sarah and David are disgusted and hurt at Martin’s actions and Sarah declares in the Street that she wants nothing more to do with him. Also, Tommy orders confused son Craig to act as though his sister doesn’t exist, but Angela makes it clear to her husband that she won’t back him up and that Katy will always be her daughter.

During a drink in the Rovers Gail innocently asks Eileen about her baby sitting Bethany the night before and is gutted to discover that Beth’s “New Nana” Brenda Fearns filled in. Gail is very upset when she realises that Sarah no longer wants her to be part of her life.

Karen is still ecstatic after Steve’s surprise proposal and sets about planning an engagement party in the Rovers for that evening. But when their friends realise that they were duped into believing the divorce was for real they boycott the bash. When Karen arrives dressed to the nines, and sees the pub deserted apart from Kirk and Norris, she realises her wedding day could be a disaster as their pals resent being duped.

Meanwhile over at Todd and Sarah’s bedsit, Nick attempts to talk to Sarah about Brenda Fearns baby-sitting Beth instead of Gail. Sarah, tired of the constant arguments about Gail, decides to go to bed and leaves the two guys enjoying a few drinks. After a while they open up to each other over their family issues, leaving Todd wondering about the depths of his relationship with Sarah

After the evening’s non-starter of a party, Irish charmer Ciaron and Bev find themselves clearing up the pub together. Ciaron is still smarting after an argument with Sunita after he had to cancel a date last minute due to work. So after more than a few stiff after hours drinks, he admits to an equally tipsy Bev that all he wants from Sunita is a bit of fun. After some seriously suggestive flirting between the unlikely couple, they kiss passionately and continue their evening upstairs.

Elsewhere, Fred Elliott agrees to go on a meat tasting holiday in Scotland, but is shocked to find out that one of his old flames, the abattoir heiress Petula Peach has organised the jaunt.


EPISODE 5596 - 05/10/2003

Karen is still very upset about their engagement party.
Nick has spent the night at Todd and Sarah's. Sarah is delighted that her brother and boyfriend get on so well.
Bev feels embarrassed and Ciaran feels guilty about their night of passion. Sunita, oblivious to what's gone on, apologises to Ciaran for rowing with him.

Todd starts to question whether or not he really loves Sarah. Sarah can sense there's something wrong but he pretends it's just work related.

Ashley and Claire see Fred off on his coach trip round Scotland.
Shelley gives Steve his bill for the engagement party. Steve is horrified!
Karen tells Steve that she wants the biggest most impressive wedding ever.
Gail invites Angela round for a drink. They find they have a lot in common - both feel that their daughter has abandoned them, and both are very upset.

Todd and Nick go for a drink and then back to Todd's for a Chinese. They talk at length and each feels very comfortable with the other. Instinctively Todd leans over and kisses Nick on the lips. Nick is shocked and angry and storms out of the flat. Todd is devastated that he misread the situation.

Todd worries about the previous night's events. He tries to talk to Nick, but Nick angrily accuses him of being gay and warns him to stay away from him.

Angela is unhappy when Craig asks if he can move into Katy's bedroom.
Tommy ignores Katy in the street, and she receives an equally frosty reception from Sarah at the café.
Todd attempts to explain to Nick his mixed emotions about the kiss. Nick thinks Sarah has the right to know that her boyfriend is gay or at the least, bisexual, and orders Todd to tell her everything.

Katy refuses when Angela asks her to come home. Angela tells her that she's on Tommy's side on this issue and hopes Katy comes to her senses.

Dev has been researching other cab firms and informs Steve that the way forward is satellite navigation and women drivers. Steve is unhappy to hear that they'll have to plough back the firm's profits to fund this, thinking of the expensive wedding he's expected to pay for.

Nick asks Ashley to join him for a drink, keen to have a "normal" friendship after what happened with Todd.
Nick accepts Sarah's invitation to join she and Todd for their tea. Despite Todd's pleas to keep quiet, he tells a stunned Sarah that Todd is gay.

Bev is suspicious of Lucy's motives as Lucy arrives at the Rovers to ask Shelley to join her for a drink
.
After Nick's angry assertions that Todd is gay, Sarah asks for time alone with Todd for his version of events. A confused Todd questions his sexuality as he tells Sarah that although he loves her, kissing Nick felt right at the time.

Nick asks Ashley if he ever gave him the impression that he was gay.

Karen orders Steve to stand up to Dev over his plans for the cab firm, so Steve gives Les his job back to show Dev who's boss.
Sarah is devastated at what she sees as Todd's betrayal of their relationship.

Angela is furious with Tommy for allowing Craig to move into Katy's room - she accuses him of trying to erase Katy from their lives.
Ashley and Claire share a bowl of popcorn and watch a video together.

Lucy and Shelley bond as Lucy explains that she and Shelley are sharing the same emotions.
Todd pleads with Sarah not to leave him. He's unsure of his feelings but he knows he loves her. She doubts his word and leaves the Street with Bethany.

EPISODE 5599 - 08/10/2003

Sarah has spent the night at Brenda Fearns' house, where Brenda takes care of her.

Todd accuses Nick of trying to ruin his and Sarah's lives. Nick asserts that his sister was entitled to know the truth.
Kevin gives Sally a hard time about how much time she's spending at work.

Ken and Deirdre think Tracy is suffering with a hangover when she's nauseous in the morning.
Dev is less than pleased to see Les at the cab office and fires him immediately.

Bev and Ciaran warn Shelley against getting pally with Lucy.

Eileen is delighted when Jason returns from Slough, flush with cash.

Steve gives Les his job back, and to prove even more of a point to Dev, offers Tracy a job too.
Sally hands over the keys to the bookies to Shelley, fed up with being taken for a mug.

Brenda talks to Sarah about forgiveness and convinces her to talk to Todd.

Roy and Hayley feel increasingly awkward around Ken and Deirdre.

Todd tells Sarah that the kiss had been a moment of madness and that if she'll forgive him, nothing will come between them again. He's relieved when she finally agrees to move back in.

Sarah is uncomfortable with Todd's physical advances towards her. She wants reassurance that he still fancies her.
Emily presses Tracy to tell Ken and Deirdre about the baby.
Todd assures Gail that all is fine between he and Sarah.

Dev is scornful when Steve sends Tracy out on a trial run in one of the cabs.
Roy and Hayley ponder Ken's future relationship with Tracy's baby when Ken expresses sadness about his lack of contact with Peter's son, Simon.

Lucy argues that Peter owes she and Shelley for all the suffering he's put them through. She persuades Shelley to reopen Peter's bookies with her and to pocket the profits between them. They'll pay Sally to run the place for them.
Karen is furious with Steve for hiring Tracy, but later revels in the fact that an extremely flustered Tracy makes a complete hash of her trial run.

Ciaran takes an hour off from the Rovers, and later surreptitiously presents Ken with a birthday card from Peter.
Lucy, Shelley and Sally celebrate a successful first day of running the bookies.

Hayley and Roy are troubled to learn that Tracy is driving a mini-cab. Tracy refuses to stop unless they pay her the equivalent of her wages.

Sarah refuses to listen when Nick tells her to finish with Todd. Nick warns Todd that he knows the truth about him, and he'll be watching his every move from now on.

Episode 5601 - Sunday 12 October 2003 at 7:30pm

Always with an eye for the main chance, Lucy relishes the prospect of running the bookies while Peter is away and when she and Shelley discover that he has put the business up for sale Lucy resolves to fleece him of the last of his cash. At the end of a busy day the safe is positively bulging with takings but Lucy has no plans to bank the profits for Peter, instead she shares it out between herself and a slightly uncomfortable Shelley.

Tracy's behaviour is starting to exasperate Ken and Deirdre as her mood swings and foul temper get worse as each day passes. Meanwhile, Roy and Hayley are equally annoyed with Tracy's attitude towards the pregnancy and start to put pressure on her to break the news to her mum and dad.

Nick is still furious with Todd and Sarah and he's in no mood for small talk with Candice and Maria, but later when Candice catches up with him he eyes a chance to prove his masculinity and agrees to take her on a date.

Karen's plans for a fairytale wedding are getting bigger by the day but she's in for a shock when Steve breaks it to her that there will be no way they will be walking up the aisle this side of Christmas now Dev has decided to plough all the profits back into the business.

Meanwhile Dev hasn't only got business on his mind as he sets up a meeting with sexy solicitor Maya Sharma, in front of a curious and mildly amused Sunita.

Episode 5602 - Monday 13 October 2003 at 7:30pm

Roy and Hayley have had enough of Tracy’s mystery pregnancy and decide it’s high time her news became public. Roy challenges her to come clean to Ken and Deirdre claiming they must be the first to know. Tracy seems to agree but when it becomes clear she has no intention of breaking the news Roy and Hayley make their way to the Barlows to drop the bombshell themselves, that is unless Tracy gets there first.

Maria and Fiz are dying to know who Candice’s mystery date is. But they’re stunned to catch her back at the salon flat in the arms of Maria’s ex Nick. Candice is triumphant and Maria’s reaction shows she’s none too happy to lose out to her arch-rival.

Speculation is rife over Peter’s plans as Lucy and Shelley continue to blow his profits on some retail therapy. Meanwhile, Sally fears for her job and Ciaran wonders if someone should let Peter know what his two wives are up to.

Elsewhere, Dev is dressed to impress as he arrives for his meeting with solicitor Maya. But Maya’s outsmarted him and he ends up being shunted into the office of a male colleague.

Episode 5603 - Monday 13 October 2003 at 7:30pm

As Ken and Deirdre reel from the news that Roy has just delivered, Tracy is furious but can’t bring herself to reveal the nature of the deal she’s struck with the Croppers. When they leave Ken and Deirdre turn on Tracy for her uncaring attitude towards her unborn child. She shows little remorse but as the news sinks in Deirdre tells her she will be there to support her, but then Tracy drops the second bombshell of the night…

Maria is furious after discovering that Candice and Nick are an item but Candice is chuffed to have one up on her rival. She’s all over Nick but when Maria kicks up a fuss Fiz is quick to remind her that she was the one who put Nick back on the open market when she turned him down.

Dev’s not going to give up on Maya and strings out his meeting with the male solicitor she palmed him off on in the hope of catching a few minutes with her. He succeeds and even when Maya claims her code of ethics forbids her from dating clients Dev’s not rattled admitting he loves a challenge.

Back on the Street, Craig and his mates continue to torment Norris with their footballing antics. But when a fed up Norris confiscates and bursts their ball he’s left with an angry Tommy to deal with.

Episode 5604 - Wednesday 15 October 2003 at 7:30pm

As Ken and Deirdre try to come to terms with Tracy’s second bombshell, that she’s giving her baby away, Ken starts to question whether Roy really is the father of her child and alerts Roy to the fact that, given the dates, it could just as easily be Wally’s baby. Tracy’s livid and denies it vehemently but when Ken advises Roy to ask Wally in person it’s clear that the Croppers are rattled. Roy goes to speak to Wally who brags about sleeping with Tracy but when he hears she’s pregnant he quickly backtracks leaving Roy in no doubt as to who is the father.

Maya calls around to the corner shop to get a closer look at Dev but when he comes on too strong it looks like he’s blown his chance. But Dev won’t give up and when he eventually lines up a date for the next day Sunita’s left looking none too pleased.

Candice is chuffed when Audrey gives her relationship with Nick the seal of approval but Todd’s worried that details of his kiss will now get out.

And the kids step up their campaign against a worried Norris and Rita, making as much noise as they can outside the Kabin.

Episode 5605 - Friday 17 October 2003 at 7:30pm

Now convinced that the baby is Roy’s, the Croppers decide the best way of ensuring Tracy sticks to the deal and hands over the child is for Roy to marry Tracy then divorce her as soon as the baby is born. Tracy’s gobsmacked and confirms that while she’ll be only too happy to hand over the child she has no intention of marrying Roy. But the Croppers won’t give up on their plan and issue Tracy with an ultimatum, she either marries Roy or the deal is off.

Tommy’s furious when he catches Angela speaking to Katy and a massive row erupts in the street. Angela storms off and although the couple make up later she warns Tommy that if he continues to behave in this way he’s at risk of losing both of them.

Sunita shows a hint of jealousy when Dev and Maya disappear on their lunch date, leaving Maya curious to know more about their history. But despite this hitch the couple seem to hit it off and Dev’s left disappointed when a phone call to Maya cuts their lunch short.

And Nick’s surprised when Gail gives her blessing to his relationship with Candice but he starts to worry that things may be moving too fast for his liking.

Episode 5606 - Sunday 19 October 2003 at 7:30pm

Roy has had a sleepless night worrying that he and Hayley should never have brought up the subject of marriage with Tracy. Hayley puts on a brave face but she too thinks they might have gone too far this time. Meanwhile, Tracy is devastated that she is going to be left holding the baby and breaks the news to Ken and Deirdre. Deirdre is delighted that she will be able to help bring up her grandchild but Ken does not share her joy.

Lucy and Shelley are still trying their hardest to fleece Peter by pocketing the takings from the bookies and Lucy decides to tear down the For Sale sign. But the wind is taken out of their sails when Peter turns up out of the blue with a surprise offer.

Angela is desperate to get Katy and Tommy talking again and orchestrates a meeting in the Rovers. It looks as though the pair may finally be able to put their differences to one side when Les wades in with some sarcastic comments and fists start flying.

Elsewhere, Sarah is miffed that Gail seems to have welcomed Candice into the family.

Episode 5607 - Monday 20 October 2003 at 7:30pm

Angela gives Tommy the silent treatment after his behaviour at the Rovers the previous evening. But Tommy is adamant that he will deal with Martin and Katy by ignoring them. Whilst over at the flat Martin tries to be reasonable and help understand Tommy’s behaviour which doesn’t go down too well with Katy.

Peter is settling back into life in Weatherfield and is shocked to discover Tracy’s news. But he has got more pressing problems of his own and he wastes no time in getting Lucy out of the bookies. Shelley is preparing to make her new statement at the station but she is put off her stride when Peter turns up to tell her he still loves her.

Les decides to go to the Weatherfield Arms for a change of scenery and he’s rewarded by the attentions of a new barmaid. Convincing her he is a record producer called Clint, Les has soon charmed the socks off the raunchy red head and wangled a double date with her and her mate for later that evening.

Elsewhere, Claire tries to encourage Ashley to go out more – but worries she has offended him.

Episode 5608 - Monday 20 October 2003 at 8:30pm

In the second of tonight’s double bill, Shelley prepares to make the new statement that will put Peter behind bars. But the police officer in charge of the case grows increasingly frustrated as she fails to add anything to her original statement. Will she be able to go ahead with fitting Peter up?

Les is still trying to get someone to go on his double date with Cilla and her mate and manages to rope in Tyrone. But once they have arrived at the pub and Tyrone spots the two women he chickens out leaving Les and Cilla to get to know each other better.

A tired Ashley returns from work and is delighted when Claire agrees to keep him company over a glass of wine.

Episode 5609 - Wednesday 22 October 2003 at 7:30pm

The gossips are having a field day after Norris sees Claire collecting the milk off Ashley’s doorstep. Fred admits to Norris that he would be delighted if romance was in the air between Ashley and the nanny, but when he broaches the subject Ashley is more than a little cagey.

Peter is a worried man – today is the day he finds out whether he is going to be charged with bigamy. Lucy can’t wait for him to go down and Shelley is forced to lie and say she too wants to see him suffer. A nervous Peter sets off to the police station to find out his fate – will Shelley’s statement be enough to get him charged?


Things are going from strength to strength for Les and Cilla and an afternoon of passion results in a mad dash for Cinderella Battersby – minus his shoe - to make it home before his curfew starts!

Katy is enjoying entertaining her mum at the flat and catching up with family news. The pair agree they should meet up regularly – but keep the whole thing a secret from Tommy.

Episode 5610 - Friday 24 October 2003 at 7:30pm

Fred continues to quiz Ashley about what, if anything, is going on between him and Claire. Ashley is amused by his questions but denies there is any romance between them. But later as they share another bottle of wine over dinner they surprise themselves when things start to get a little more intimate than either of them had planned.

Peter tells Ken and Deirdre that he plans to sell up and leave Weatherfield but Ken reminds him that he has Simon to consider. Meanwhile, Lucy decides to go and see the police to ask them if there is anything more they can do to make Peter pay.

Over at the Weatherfield Arms Cilla and her mate Gaynor are trying to work out why ‘Clint’ left in such a hurry the previous evening. Cilla is less than impressed when her boss tells her that Clint is really local rogue and jailbird Les Battersby. Furious she storms around to the cab office to confront him – much to the amusement of his colleagues.

Elsewhere, Katy is angry to discover that Martin used to date Sally Webster – how many more of their neighbours has he slept with?

Episode 5611 - Sunday 26 October 2003 at 7:30pm

Lucy once again stirs up trouble. She arranges to meet up with Peter to discuss Simon but when Peter arrives she phones Shelley and informs her that Peter is trying to resurrect their marriage. A gobsmacked Peter denies this and attempts to convince Shelley that Lucy has set him up in order to create more anguish between them both. Who will Shelley believe?

Claire and Ashley try to make sense of the previous evening’s kiss. Fred’s presence makes it difficult for the pair to discuss the situation. Later as Fred sleeps off his lunch the pair get a chance to talk. Both feel awkward about what happened and Claire offers to resign. Will Ashley have to look for another nanny for baby Joshua?

Meanwhile, things are looking up for Les when Cilla phones to ask if they can give their relationship another go. Over the moon, Les heads off for his date but in true Battersby style there is a surprise in store when Fiz , Kirk and Tyrone arrive to check out Les’s new woman.

Elsewhere, Tracy flirts with Steve and the factory girls grow tired of Karen’s wedding talk.


Episode 5612 - Monday 27 October 2003 at 7:30pm

In the first of tonight’s two epiodes, Tracy rekindles her deal with Roy and Hayley when the Croppers agree to buy her baby for an increased sum. Later, Peter berates Tracy for her recent behaviour and reeling from his verbal attack she breaks down and confesses to a shocked Peter the real identity of the father of her child.

Meanwhile, Les shows Cilla off in the Rovers and even introduces her to Janice but Fiz does not share Les’s new found happiness and informs him that her mum is trouble and has got a dodgy past. Later Cilla insists to Les that she won’t let Fiz spoil their relationship.

Elsewhere, relations between Claire and Ashley are strained as Fred attempts to play matchmaker between the pair.

Steve and Karen both find venues for their upcoming wedding. It’s clear each of them have very different expectations of what their big day is going to be like.

Peter reels from the news about the father of Tracy’s baby. He appeals to Tracy to come clean to the real dad but is stunned when Tracy reveals her plan to sell the baby to the Croppers. Later in the Rovers, Tracy chats to the oblivious father but will she spill the beans and tell him she is carrying his child?

Elsewhere, a determined Ken pays Lucy a visit. He appeals to her to allow Peter access to Simon. Can his words of wisdom breakdown her steely resolve?

Sally plays the proud mother when she informs an unenthusiastic Kevin that Rosie has won a part in a local production of Grease.

Meanwhile, Les and Cilla continue to get on like a house on fire.


Episode 5614 - Wednesday 29 October 2003 at 7:30pm

With the deal back on Hayley cannot keep her counsel any longer and announces to her stunned colleagues that Tracy is carrying Roy’s baby. As the news spreads around the Street Peter is furious with Tracy for not informing the real father. He is taken aback when Tracy reveals what she stands to gain from the unusual arrangement.

Ashley takes Fred to task over his interfering between him and Claire. Ashley makes it clear the relationship is purely platonic and that Fred’s continual meddling is making things awkward.

Meanwhile, Les and Cilla’s blossoming relationship is making things difficult between Fiz and Kirk. When Fiz refuses to be under the same roof as Cilla, Kirk’s romantic plans are thwarted.

Episode 5615 - Friday 31 October 2003 at 7:30pm

An anxious Roy and Hayley visit the registry office with Tracy. After some awkward questions the registrar confirms that everything seems to be in order and gives notice that the wedding can take place in a couple of weeks time. Later Peter once again asks Tracy to inform the real father adding that if she doesn’t then he will.

Meanwhile, it’s Halloween night over in the Rovers, with some of the Street’s residents getting into the swing of things by donning fancy dress. Fred has even booked a tarot reader who has some interesting news for some of the Rovers’ regulars.

Les surpises Cilla by asking her to move into Number 5 with him.

And Steve’s fancy dress outfit leads to a real hair raising experience.
