Poor old Harry Flag (Iain Rogerson). First his new boss’s missus nicknames him “Half mast” to the delight and amusement of the factory staff, then the boss’s son gets his job. Cilla drives Les to distraction

Never one to accept defeat, Cilla (Wendi Peters) has got one final trick up her sleeve to try and win back Les (Bruce Jones). All eyes are on the feisty redhead as she roars into the street in a sexy, open top sports car and dressed to the nines. Claiming that she has come for the last of her belongings she explains to a gob-smacked Les that lady luck has finally smiled on her, making her sole beneficiary of her wealthy aunt’s fortune! She urges Les to go for a spin with her for old time’s sake, but as she puts her foot down, Les is unaware that Janice (Vicky Entwistle) has spotted what’s going on and is hot on their trail.

Mike (Johnny Briggs) is still fuming after Fred (John Savident) tells him about Ciaran (Keith Duffy) and Penny’s (Pauline Fleming) secret assignations. He starts watching the secretive pair and even stoops as low as snooping in Penny’s handbag.

It’s the day of reckoning for Harry (Iain Rogerson). Sick of being taken for a mug by the Baldwin clan, he makes plans for the future. Inspired by Roy (David Neilson) and Hayley’s (Julie Hesmondhalgh) talk of their travels, he decides to quit his job at Underworld and broaden his horizons.

Cilla rocks the Status Quo for Janice and Les

Cilla (Wendi Peters) is in her element – she’s got Les (Bruce Jones) exactly where she wants him, and despite his protestations and pleas to be taken home, she is determined to prove he’s made the wrong decision in choosing Janice over her. Playing for sympathy she pulls over into a lay-by and turns on the waterworks, apologising for everything she’s done. As leering Les spies her cleavage, she chooses her moment and pushes the seat back, overpowering him – just as Janice (Vicky Entwistle) rounds the corner!

Tracy (Kate Ford) is amazed and more than a little impressed when Ciaran (Keith Duffy) reveals he’s clinched a deal to buy Nexus wine bar to turn it into a bistro. Suddenly Ciaran seems like an altogether more attractive proposition. He’s good with kids, tidy, good looking, charming and now a budding Gordon Ramsey to boot! What more could a woman want? Meanwhile Mike (Johnny Briggs) is furious with Penny (Pauline Fleming) who refuses to listen to his prophecies of doom about Ciaran and her investment in the business.

Elsewhere, Roy (David Neilson) and Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) finally admit to each other that their trip was not quite what they had hoped, and Harry re-evaluates his future over one too many in the Rovers.

Over at the garage, it soon becomes clear how Sally (Sally Whittaker) managed to get a place at Oakhill for Rosie (Helen Flanagan) when one of the school buses turns up for a free service.

This episode of CORONATION STREET is written by John Stevenson, produced by Tony Wood and directed by Kay Patrick. The executive producer is Carolyn Reynolds. It is a Granada Television production for ITV1.

Les quits Streetcars for a life of luxury

Having won her man back from Janice (Vicky Entwistle), Cilla (Wendi Peters) wastes no time in moving back into Coronation Street. Kirk (Andy Whyment) is struggling to get his head round what exactly is going on, but fickle Les (Bruce Jones) is like a pig in clover. He’s ready to celebrate the fact that they are in the money and starts by packing in his job – will he live to regret falling for Cilla’s charms and her lies once more?

Life at Ashley (Steven Arnold) and Claire’s (Julia Haworth) has settled down into domestic harmony and it is clear that Josh is thriving in such a loving environment. He’s so comfortable that he calls Claire ‘mummy’, leading to an uncomfortable situation for the couple. Claire thinks the time has come to try and explain the situation a little to the toddler, but Ashley has his own reasons for not wanting to open that can of worms.

Harry (Iain Rogerson) has finally decided what he wants to do with his future – and who he wants to do it with. Eileen (Sue Cleaver) is stunned to discover that he plans to buy Roy (David Neilson) and Hayley’s (Julie Hesmondhalgh) camper van and travel the world – but she’s even more shocked to find that he wants her to go with him.

Claire is stunned by Ashley’s proposal

Ashley (Steven Arnold) is apologetic to Claire (Julia Haworth) over the way he reacted to her suggestion that they explain to Josh that she’s not his mummy. She’s surprised that he doesn’t want to take that step and is stunned when he asks her to marry him, explaining that she is the nearest thing to a mum Josh has.

Les (Bruce Jones) is enjoying being a man of leisure and decides he and Cilla need to start living in a manner more becoming their financial status. He bungs Jamie Baldwin (Rupert Hill) some cash to get rid of his old furniture at the tip and splashes out on a new state-of-the-art telly. Meanwhile Cilla (Wendi Peters) is starting to panic that she may have gone too far and breaks some shocking news to Les!

Harry (Iain Rogerson) is disappointed when Eileen (Sue Cleaver) lets him down gently, but is determined to follow his dream and hits the road, bidding a fond farewell to Weatherfield.
