Will Jack’s disguise lead to crowning glory for the Rovers Ravers?

A startled Tyrone (Alan Halsall) walks in on Jack (William Tarmey) trying his padded bra on for size, but an embarrassed Jack doesn’t get chance to explain about his new found identity before Vera (Elizabeth Dawn) arrives home. Jack reminds her that he won’t be around today as it is the final of the bowls competition, but she duly informs him that she will be coming along to show her support. Jack, mortified that Ida may be found out, tries to persuade her that she will be bored witless at the competition and that she might as well stay at home. At the bowling green, Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) sets about turning Jack into a convincing woman. When the
transformation is complete, Jack tactfully complains that Hayley has made him look unattractive. Hayley retorts informing him she doesn’t want all the men at the competition lusting after him, leading to him being exposed. The rest of the team find Jack’s new disguise hilarious and ridicule him. Edie Bagshawe, (Carol Macready) the opposition team captain, is fooled by Hayley’s replacement and mocks them, claiming that they have no chance of a victory. But is Edie herself all that she seems? With all the hard work that has gone into creating Ida, does Jack manage to pull it off and win the title for the Rovers Ravers? And more to the point will Vera turn up and blow his cover?

Meanwhile, home alone Chesney (Sam Aston) raids the kitchen cupboards for something to eat. Finding only a few cans of dog food, he selflessly feeds Schmeichel and in his starving state, contemplates eating some of it himself. Having been told that Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) will be around to look after him, Chesney goes on the hunt for her and after a fruitless search bumps into Tommy (Thomas Craig) who is en route to his family barbecue. Feeling sorry for hungry Chesney he invites him over. Is Cilla's (Wendi Peters) heartlessness about to be uncovered by Tommy?

Elsewhere, Sunita (Shobna Gulati) nearly catches Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) speaking to Maya (Sasha Behar) on the phone, but he lies to her saying it was someone from work. Once again he goes out under the cover of seeing a new shop but is in fact on his way to see Maya, determined to get his grandmother’s engagement ring back. Unconvinced by his ex-fiancée’s previous tale of having thrown the ring away, Dev accuses her of playing another of her games. Maya eventually produces the ring, but she's not going to let Dev off the hook. She says he can have the ring back, but for a price. Will Dev be prepared to rise to her demands? Maya is not Dev's only problem, as Sunita will surely wonder how Dev got the ring back, and how will she feel when she finds out she’s been lied to?

This episode of CORONATION STREET is written by John Stevenson, produced by Tony Wood and directed by Mike Adams. The executive producer is Carolyn Reynolds. It is a Granada Television production for ITV1.

Monday 30 August 7.30 - 8pm ITV1.

Dev and Sunita celebrate their engagement.

Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) is in a reflective mood but Sunita (Shobna Gulati) is still seething about the previous night’s argument about the ring. She slowly warms to the idea of wearing it as Dev explains the significance of its past. She offers Dev a compromise, if he buys her a new ring to symbolise their engagement, she will wear his grandmother's once they’re married. With peace restored they both head off to search for her dream ring, when their engagement party at the Rovers that evening will be the perfect opportunity to show it off. Now that Maya (Sasha Behar) is aware of Dev and Sunita’s plans, will she be able to stay away and let the happy couple get on with their lives?

Over at the Battersbys, Chesney (Sam Aston) is relieved when a kind Tommy (Thomas Craig) restores the electricity to the house. He is still seething that Cilla (Wendi Peters) left her son all alone and, concerned, starts to ask him if this is a regular occurrence. At the same time, Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) and Kirk (Andrew Whyment) return after being told by Tommy that Chesney was left alone while Cilla and Les (Bruce Jones) partied. Shocked and angry, Fiz learns that Cilla told her brother she would be looking after him even though her mother knew full well that she wasn’t going to be around. She apologises to Chesney for not being there when he needed her most. Cilla has got some explaining to do.

Karen’s (Suranne Jones) odd behaviour goes from bad to worse as she receives a visit from her Aunt Eva (Maggie Ollerenshaw) asking if she will attend her mum’s funeral today. Karen refuses point blank to go with Eva and instead decides to go to Dev and Sunita’s engagement party, where her drunken behaviour causes a real stir. Steve (Simon Gregson) is worried about his wife’s lack of interest in her mother’s death, and is concerned that she is covering her true feelings. So how does Karen really feel? And will her strange behaviour continue?

This episode of CORONATION STREET is written by Daran Little, produced by Tony Wood and directed by Alan Wareing. The executive producer is Carolyn Reynolds. It is a Granada Television production for ITV1.

Monday 30 August 8.30 - 9pm ITV1.

Maya plans to upset Dev and Sunita’s happy applecart.

The party goes on to mark the most recent engagement in the street. While everyone else is enjoying the celebrations, Maya (Sasha Behar) sees it as the perfect opportunity to sneak into Sunita’s (Shobna Gulati) flat to put her plan into action. However, she hasn’t bargained on Sunita popping back to take her forgotten medication, and panic sets in as she hears someone opening the front door. Sunita nearly rumbles her, but just in time spots her medication in the lounge, avoiding Maya who is hiding in her bedroom. Maya appears jubilant when she finds Sunita’s birth certificate. But what exactly has she got in mind? Dev and Sunita happily announce the date of their wedding to the Rovers’ regulars but will everything go to plan with Maya still on the scene?

Meanwhile, everyone is having a great time at the party, or are they? Karen (Suranne Jones) appears to be in high spirits after copious amounts of alcohol, but Steve (Simon Gregson) is worried that she is using alcohol to numb the memories of her painful past. She makes a heartfelt drunken toast to the happy couple. Upset at seeing Karen in such a state, Steve firmly insists they go home. How long is Karen going to mask her emotions?

As Cilla (Wendi Peters) and Les (Bruce Jones) return from their weekend break in Blackpool, nothing can prepare them for the tongue-lashing they receive in the Rovers from Tommy (Thomas Craig), outraged over their apparent disregard for poor Chesney (Sam Aston). Cilla and a confused Les race home to find Chesney being looked after by Fiz (Jennie McAlpine), who also has her fair share of bad mouthing to do. There is a showdown as both Cilla and Fiz blame each other for leaving Chesney home alone. Will Cilla take responsibility for leaving Chesney at home on his own, or will the feud between her and her daughter continue?

Todd (Bruno Langley) is surprised when he bumps into Karl’s friend Sean (Antony Cotton) who tells him he is looking for somewhere to live after being thrown out of his current flat. Todd introduces him to Eileen (Sue Cleaver), who is quick to ask whether Todd fancies him. Todd is not amused and quickly informs his mum that just because they are both gay doesn’t mean they will fancy each other. Sean joins in the celebrations at the engagement party where Eileen takes pity on him and decides that she will offer him a bed for the night in the form of their sofa. Jason (Ryan Thomas) is not at all happy when he hears of his mum’s offer.
