Ashley and the mother-in-law

Ashley (Steven Arnold) tries to persuade a reluctant Claire (Julia Haworth) to ring her mum, but when she finally gives in and calls her, it quickly turns into a blazing row. Ashley clearly feels bad about this, and while he temporarily manages to vent his anxieties by taking meat cleaver to wing rib, it would seem that more problems are around the corner for him as Claire doesn’t want to move in before the wedding, and Maxine’s mother doesn’t yet know about their relationship, never mind their engagement.

Ciaran (Keith Duffy) is left at home licking his wounds after being dumped by Tracy (Kate Ford), yet when she turns up later with a transparently false attempt at an apology, Ciaran gives her a reality check on what she’s got them in to. She issues a warning to keep her name from Penny (Pauline Fleming). That base covered, Tracy returns home and attempts to breeze in as if nothing has happened, yet Ken (William Roache), Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) and Blanche (Maggie Jones) are not so forgetful or forgiving and Deirdre issues her with directions to hell.

Meanwhile, Ciaran pays another visit to Penny in an effort to convince her it wasn’t a scam from the start, though unsurprisingly she’s finding it hard to trust his word, leaving him unsure as to how far she’ll take the matter.

Elsewhere, Tyrone (Alan Halsall) is over the moon when Maria (Samia Ghadie) drops by the garage with a thank you gesture, but are his sentiments fuelled by Fiz’s (Jennie McAlpine) propaganda? This seems to be confirmed when Maria tells Fiz to “step off”’ and sets the record straight concerning her and Tyrone.

Later, Penny breaks down and reveals all to Mike (Johnny Briggs) who takes the role of her knight in shining armour swearing to wreak revenge, though she insists that he doesn’t get involved. However, Mike can’t help himself and pays a visit to Mr Walker (Ken Kitson), but will the whole truth come out?

This episode of CORONATION STREET is written by Mark Wadlow, produced by Tony Wood and directed by Anne Ross Muir. The executive producer is Carolyn Reynolds. It is a Granada Television production for ITV1.

Tracy is arrested

Tracy pleads with Penny

Ciaran and Tracy are arrested

Penny (Pauline Fleming) is annoyed at Mike (Johnny Briggs) for sticking his nose in, and she warns him not to stifle her. Later, Penny seems to acquire a shadow in the form of Tracy (Kate Ford), who is pulling out all the stops in an attempt to portray herself as another innocent victim of Ciaran’s (Keith Duffy) scheming. But will Penny fall for her lies?

In the Barlow household, Tracy is up to the same tricks, pleading ignorance of the whole scheme. While her audience isn’t sure what to believe, Blanche (Maggie Jones) manages to put her foot in it by comparing her shame to that she felt when Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) was sent down, but is taken by surprise when Ken (William Roache) off-loads some long pent-up attitudes towards her. Later, Ken continues his roll when he has stern words with Tracy.

Jason (Ryan Thomas) is annoyed that Violet (Jenny Platt) has invited her mates on their night out, and when he does the same, she doesn’t seem too thrilled herself, though at least Tyrone (Alan Halsall) is looking forward to spending the night in the same vicinity as Maria (Samia Gahadie).

Les (Bruce Jones) overhears Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) talking about the wedding and manages to get his wires crossed concerning Hindu tradition, resulting in him and Kirk (Andrew Whyment) going on a wild goose chase for an elephant!

Shelley (Sally Lindsay) tries on a sari with Sunita (Shobna Gulati), and talks of how she thinks the whole tiff with Charlie has served to make them more trusting and bring them closer together. Yet when Charlie is late for their romantic evening in, Shelley seems rather edgy for such a trusting girl.

This episode of CORONATION STREET is written by David Lane, produced by Tony Wood and directed by Anne Ross Muir. The executive producer is Carolyn Reynolds. It is a Granada Television production for ITV1.

The honeymoon’s over for Charlie and Shelley

Shelley (Sally Lindsay) tries to be casual in asking Charlie (Bill Ward) what time he got in last night, though he is vague as ever. After a bit of sneaky detective work, Shelley discovers from Cilla (Wendi Peters) that Charlie was not where he said he was, and the already blooming seed of mistrust in her mind grows ever larger. Later, when Cilla bumps into Charlie she can’t help but stir things up and this seems to bring out a more evidently nasty side to Charlie regarding Shelley.

Tracy’s (Kate Ford) back home after her night in the cells and some members of the Barlow household are more sympathetic than others. For once, Tracy is showing genuine emotion, and when she breaks down crying, Ken is on hand to reassure her that they do indeed love her. Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) is evidently sick with worry, and in a bold move, decides to pay a visit to Mike (Johnny Briggs) to see if she can get him to drop the charges, though Ken (William Roache) isn’t thrilled about the idea. Mike doesn’t make it easy for Deirdre and much of their history is dragged up as Deirdre begs Mike “for all I’ve ever meant to you”. Things take an interesting turn as Penny (Pauline Fleming) overhears this and demands to know what is going on, but will this serve to harden or soften her attitude towards Tracy?

Elsewhere, Jason (Ryan Thomas) is evidently smitten with Violet (Jenny Platt) yet confused that she’s keeping him waiting in the bedroom department. But is Charlie (Bill Ward) the best person from whom to take advice?

Ashley’s (Steven Arnold) got a lot on his plate, and is increasingly concerned about Claire’s (Julia Haworth) welfare concerning her mother, and now has to tell Maxine’s mum Doreen (Prunella Gee) about his wedding plans. When Doreen turns up, Ashley keeps missing his chance as she gets emotional over memories of Maxine, but as Doreen is about to leave, Ashley knows he has to tell her and so blurts it out. How will she react?

This episode of CORONATION STREET is written by Daran Little, produced by Tony Wood and directed by Anne Ross Muir. The executive producer is Carolyn Reynolds. It is a Granada Television production for ITV1.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shelley’s past is taunting her

Shelley (Sally Lindsay) is not happy that Charlie (Bill Ward) might not be able to make Sunita (Shobna Gulati) and Dev’s (Jimmi Harkishin) party, but instead of telling him, she apologises for being “too needy”, pushing all the blame onto herself and her past with Peter. Later, when Shelley sees Charlie coming out of another unexpected place, she’s not too pleased, but is she jumping to conclusions?

Ashley (Steven Arnold) and Claire (Julia Haworth) get to talking about how Doreen (Prunella Gee) took the news, and while it was never going to be easy, Ashley hates the fact that he may have hurt her feelings. When Doreen returns with Joshua (Benjamin Beresford), Claire is annoyed that she has thrown away the new top she bought him; Doreen breaks down and makes some harsh comparisons of Claire to Maxine. Will Claire manage to win her over?

Elsewhere, Sunita is preparing for her ‘Sangeet’ (Hindu pre-wedding bash), with the pub being transformed into the Taj Mahal, and Shell and herself into Indian godesses! Once the party gets underway, everyone seems to be having a great time and letting their hair down; that is until an uninvited guest turns up.

Meanwhile, Patrick (Trevor Dwyer-Lynch) pays his homage to the film Love Actually in a hilarious attempt at apologising to Janice (Vicky Entwistle) for the previous night. While Janice doesn’t fall head over heals for this romantic gesture, he’s still good for a snog.

This episode of CORONATION STREET is written by Jonathan Harvey, produced by Tony Wood and directed by Anne Ross Muir. The executive producer is Carolyn Reynolds. It is a Granada Television production for ITV1.

Shelley has it out with Charlie and Gail

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shelley has it out with Charlie and Gail

Shelley (Sally Lindsay) is convinced Charlie (Bill Ward) is having an affair with Gail (Helen Worth), and has compiled quite a hefty case against them. After mulling over the issue throughout the day with a good few glasses of wine, she finally confronts the two of them, but in making a complete fool of herself in front of much of the street, Shelley seems to have given Charlie the excuse he needs to take control of the relationship.

Fred (John Savident) is pushing for firm wedding plans, though it would seem Doreen’s visit has made Ashley (Steven Arnold) think of whether people will see the marriage as coming too soon after Maxine’s death. When they all sit down to sort it out, Claire (Julia Haworth) is evidently put out when Ashley dismisses her plans for a Christmas wedding; he wants something much later due to work commitments.

Elsewhere, Jason (Ryan Thomas) is clearly gutted when Violet (Jenny Platt) knocks him back on his invitation to a new club, and later, she reveals a new more vulnerable side to Ciaran (Keith Duffy). However, Jason, determined not to let the night go to waste, invites out the crowd, and they all gear up for a night on the town.

Candice (Nikki Sanderson) has other plans for Warren (Danny Young) however, as she prepares him for his big trial at Weatherfield County, and takes notes on just how a footballer’s wife should behave.

This episode of CORONATION STREET is written by Jonathan Harvey, produced by Tony Wood and directed by Anne Ross Muir. The executive producer is Carolyn Reynolds. It is a Granada Television production for ITV1.
