CORONATION STREET ITV1 Network Sunday 2 January 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Year’s Day on Coronation Street Things are looking up for aspiring footballer Warren (Danny Young). Recovered from his recent injury, he has finally made it into the first team squad of Weatherfield County. However, the good news soon subsides when Frankie (Deborah Stephenson) and Danny (Bradley Walsh) realise their party-loving son isn’t fit enough to play, due to his New Year’s Day hangover. Jamie (Rupert Hill) is sure he can fix Warren's self-inflicted ailment, but will it cure him in time for the big game? Tommy (Thomas Craig) and Angela (Kathryn Hunt) tease Kevin (Michael Le Vell) about their respective offsprings’ latest musical tastes. Tommy finds it highly amusing to pretend he is up-to-date on the Goth scene, that is until he sees Rosie (Helen Flanagan) and Craig (Richard Fleeshman) return from a shopping trip dressed head to toe in black, with miserable personas to match! Roy (David Neilson) tries to deal with bully Vince (Conrad Nelson), convinced he is no good, but Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) thinks Roy is worrying over nothing.
The New Year seems to be looking up for Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Sally (Sally Whittaker) – apart from the odd hiccup such as Rosie’s (Helen Flanagan) new-found interest in the goth world! They are enjoying domestic bliss, bringing more money in and Sally has a new job, which she is really enjoying and seems to be getting on famously with her new boss Ian (Philip Bretherton). However, Sally is dumbfounded to learn Ian has much more than a professional relationship in mind, when he tells her he is falling in love with her. Audrey (Sue Nicholls) is taking no prisoners after a night of no sleep. She has been kept awake by the building work next door and loses her temper with Candice (Nikki Sanderson) and Maria (Samia Ghadie) for being five minutes late for work. Gail (Helen Worth) invites Audrey to stay with her for the evening, but instead she takes solace at Fred’s (John Savident), feeling he could do with the companionship as Claire and Ashley are away. Jason (Ryan Thomas) feels things between him and Violet (Jenny Platt) are going really well. His mum really approves of her, as does Sean (Anthony Cotton), and so he decides to take the plunge and ask her to move in with him, to her utter amazement. And Roy (David Neilson) becomes increasingly incensed by Vince (Conrad Nelson), who seems to be taking great pleasure in winding him up. This episode of CORONATION STREET is written by John Stevenson, produced by Tony Wood and directed by Colin Cant. The executive producer is Carolyn Reynolds. It is a Granada Television production for ITV1.
Sally (Sally Whittaker) is put in a difficult situation when she realises Ian’s true feelings for her, making it perfectly clear she is a married woman. But afterwards she worries her cold reaction to Ian’s (Philip Bretherton) declaration might cost her the job. Her glum mood is not helped when she returns home to find daughter Rosie (Helen Flanagan) covered in black hair dye. Clearly concerned, she takes out Kevin (Michael Le Vell) for the evening and attempts to explain to him what’s been going on, but Kevin doesn’t pick-up on his wife’s predicament, merely thinking she is just upset over Rosie’s recent change of image. As they talk Sally realises Kevin is enjoying their more prosperous life of late and, not wanting to ruin his happiness, keeps her counsel. At the café, Roy (David Neilson) is becoming increasingly
nervous in Vince’s Meanwhile, Violet (Jenny Platt) gets increasingly annoyed at the blunt way boyfriend Jason (Ryan Thomas) asked her to move in with him. However, after talking to Sean (Anthony Cotton), she realises she is once again frightened of making a commitment. Tired of allowing her past to rule her future, Violet considers her actions and when Jason asks her again in a much more romantic fashion, she decides to give the idea some serious consideration. After a bad day at work Audrey (Sue Nicholls) spends an evening in with Fred (John Savident), and the pair set the world to rights as they chat about today’s youth. This episode of CORONATION STREET is written by Stephen Russell, produced by Tony Wood and directed by Colin Cant. The executive producer is Carolyn Reynolds. Sally (Sally Whittaker) completely forgets she and Kevin (Michael
Le Vell) are supposed to be going out for a meal with Ian (Philip
Bretherton) and Justine (Sophie James). Sally feels uncomfortable
after Ian’s declaration of love for her, but he promises never
to mention it again. She goes for the meal in the hope they can all
be friends, but this all proves too much as Ian starts to make not
so subtle comments. Kevin and Justine are oblivious to this but Sally
can’t wait to leave and comes on strong with Kevin as soon Meanwhile Vince’s bullying increasingly exasperates Roy (David
Neilson) who has taken to putting up signs in the café in
the hope Vince will adhere by his rules. This tactic only serves
to backfire on him when Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) tells him his
signs are ridiculous and returns all the condiments Roy has collected
to everyone’s tables. Roy, enraged by this, calls Hayley the
bully and then feels ashamed at his own behaviour, as Jason’s (Ryan Thomas) idea to move in Violet (Jenny Platt) doesn’t go to plan, as he forgets one thing…. to ask his mum! Eileen (Sue Cleaver) is not impressed to say the least when she finds Jason moving Violet in without her permission. Violet is mortified Jason hasn’t asked his mum and tells Eileen she’ll collect her stuff later. Jason then tells Eileen she could have ruined everything with Violet; will it all end in tears? While Ken (William Roache) chats to Adam (Sam Robertson) about his future education, he lets slip that he is enjoying his time back in Weatherfield, and doesn’t actually want to go to university, much to Ken’s dismay. This episode of CORONATION STREET is written by Jayne Hollinson, produced by Tony Wood and directed by Colin Cant. The executive producer is Carolyn Reynolds. It is a Granada Television production for ITV1.
Sally (Sally Whittaker) seems relieved when everything seems to be returning to normal with Ian (Philip Bretherton). While there is a slight awkwardness when Justine (Sophie James) arrives, it soon subsides with Ian’s reassurance he’ll never again bring up his feelings for her and she begins to relax, enjoying a drink with him after work. But when nothing untoward happens she feels slightly dejected. When she returns home to a mad goth house, she decides to seek solace at Gail’s (Helen Worth) and begins to question how she really feels. Questions also fly in the Harris household when Craig (Richard Fleeshman) seems strangely subdued. Tommy (Thomas Craig) puts it down to his new goth attitude, while Angela (Kathryn Hunt) assumes something’s wrong. However they soon realise his quietness and lack of appetite is down to his tongue piercing! And Tommy hits the roof! Roy (David Neilson) decides to take a firm, assertive approach with Vince ( Conrad Nelson) when he lights up in the non-smoking café. While at first this works, he realises Vince has left his phone in the café, and now he must again face him to return it. He avoids doing so, until Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) tells him it must be returned. Can he face Vince again? And Ken (William Roache), having no more luck in persuading Adam on a future at university, asks Mike (Johnny Briggs) to have a chat with him. However Danny (Bradley Walsh) gets hold of him first and tells him the secret to success is not university, but work. This episode of CORONATION STREET is written by Chris Parker, produced
by Tony Wood and directed by Colin Cant. The executive producer is
