Roy’s bullying nightmare returns

Roy (David Neilson) appears cheerier but just as he thinks he has made progress with Vince (Conrad Nelson), he accuses Roy of using 47 pence worth of credit on his phone. Roy is disgusted but has no strength left to challenge him and when Vince again starts eating his own food in the café, Roy doesn’t have any fight left so leaves him to it. Frankie (Debra Stephenson) tries to help and throws Vince out but Roy sees this only as pity and takes it all out on Rosie (Helen Flanagan) and Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent) when they come in eating their own chocolate. Sally’s (Sally Whittaker) furious and accuses Roy of being a bully. It’s the final straw for Roy and as Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) demands an explanation, he breaks down, the past flooding out.

After discovering Craig’s (Richard Fleeshman) piercing, Tommy (Thomas Craig) is consumed with anger and determined to take it out on somebody. He feels he is losing Craig the way he lost Katy. In an attempt to teach the tatooist a lesson for giving his 14-year old son a piercing, he frog marches Craig down to the parlour – only to be faced by a huge bloke who is not scared of Tommy. Will he end up the one being taught a lesson?

It’s match day and the Baldwin clan are excited at the prospect of Warren (Danny Young) actually playing for Weatherfield County this time. But their spirits are dampened by Jamie (Rupert Hill) who can’t see what all the fuss is about. It looks like he is right, as his younger brother spends the majority of the game on the bench. But much to the excitement of Frankie and Candice, he comes on in the final minute. Will Warren seize his moment and shine?

Roy (David Neilson) still feels threatened by Vince (Conrad Nelson) and spends the morning skiving off work to avoid him. When he does eventually return to the café, after Hayley’s (Julie Hesmondhalgh) encouragement, Vince is there again making nasty digs and inciting Les (Bruce Jones) and mad goth Rosie (Helen Flanagan) to do the same. Roy’s unhappy but feels unable to make any kind of stand. However, when Vince starts again, Roy can’t take any more and calls in the police. Will this put a stop to Vince’s bullying?

When Tommy confiscates Craig’s gig tickets, Angela (Kathryn Hunt) and Janice (Vicky Entwhistle) hatch a plan to make Tommy realise that he was once young himself. It seems to do the trick, and as father and son build bridges, Tommy realises that the goth stage will just be a phase and has a re-think about the gig.

Over at the Barlows’, Ken (William Roache) is looking forward to a nice family meal. However, arriving at the restaurant, he’s shocked to see that Blanche (Maggie Jones) has brought along a surprise guest – Wanda (Ann Rye).

At the Rovers, Shelley (Sally Lindsay) is struggling with her diet, but in an attempt to 'help' her lose weight, Charlie buys them a joint gym membership. How will she react to his latest lack of subtlety?

The police arrive at the café to investigate Roy’s (David Neilson) phone call. They find the whole complaint about Vince (Conrad Nelson) eating his own food on site funny but promise to speak to him about it. In front of the police, Vince apologises to Roy but Roy can’t help feeling humiliated when he sees them all laughing together afterwards. Later Vince comes back to the café to teach Roy a lesson but there’s a nasty surprise waiting for him in the form of his boss Charlie (Bill Ward).

Ashley (Steven Arnold) and Claire (Julia Haworth) return to the street from their honeymoon. They’re every bit the happy couple but while Fred (John Savident) feels genuinely happy for his son, seeing them return highlights his own loneliness. He is made to feel even more out of place when Ashley points out that he can stay with him and Claire for as long as he likes. Is Fred on the lookout for love again? Ashley certainly thinks so when he finds an earring down the side of the sofa which doesn’t belong to Claire!

Charlie’s (Bill Ward) mind games with Shelley (Sally Lindsay) continue, and when she is too tired to go to bed with him after a hard day at the gym, he storms out. When he returns, Shelley apologises but Charlie still seems cold with her. Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) sees it all, which can only serve as ammunition for Bev who has asked her to keep an eye on her daughter.

It’s Adam’s (Sam Robertson) last day on the street and as he says his goodbyes to his family and Sarah, Ken (William Roache) presents him with a dictionary. But he’s again beaten by the Baldwins as they give him a pair of football boots.

However, when it means Sally has to decline an offer to go on an all-expenses paid conference with Ian (Philip Bretherton), he tells her again that he loves her. Sally tries to put an end to his feelings, insisting that there can never be anything between them. But he stuns her with his response – he can’t carry on working with her while he feels like this and she should consider resigning from her job if she doesn’t feel the same. Sally’s gobsmacked. Will she be prepared to give up her new lifestyle or are Ian’s calculations about to pay off?

Over at Roy’s Rolls, Roy (David Neilson) annoys Vera (Elizabeth Dawn) and Leanne (Jane Danson) by taking the morning off again because he can’t face the cafe after his recent humiliations. After a talk from Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh), he reluctantly comes down but just when he appears to be making progress with the customers, Jason (Ryan Thomas) makes a joke of recent events. Roy completely overreacts by throwing everyone out of the café. Will things ever be the same again for Roy?

Adam (Sam Robertson) shocks everyone by arriving back in Weatherfield, claiming he can’t face boarding school any longer. Both Ken (William Roache) and Mike (Johnny Briggs) are unhappy, and after a heated discussion, a vulnerable Adam is left to seek solace in the arms of Sarah (Tina O’Brien).

Back on the street, Ashley (Steven Arnold) wonders who Fred’s (John Savident) mystery woman could be and Sarah’s the proud mum as Bethany spends her first day at school.

Friday 14 January 7.30 - 8pm ITV1

Fed up of Tracy’s (Kate Ford) constant chasing, Steve (Simon Gregson) makes a dramatic u-turn and decides to ask her out on a date. Tracy’s thrilled and when he even arrives early to put Amy to bed, she believes her luck could finally be in. It looks like this could be the turning point for Steve and Tracy now that Karen is out of the picture, but is Steve playing Tracy at her own game?

Meanwhile Sally (Sally Whittaker) is in turmoil over whether to leave her job, and Ian (Philip Bretherton), and reminds Kevin (Michael Le Vell) not to get carried away with their extra income. At the garage Ian won’t leave her alone, insisting she stay late so they can work things out. Sally tells him she’s decided to resign but as she plans to go home to tell Kevin, Ian plays his last card and tells her he can give her the kind of life she’s always wanted. Will Sally be tempted?

At the Croppers’, Roy (David Neilson) is still in very low spirits and refuses to open the café. Hayley’s (Juile Hesmondhalgh) at her wits’ end and it takes Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) to talk him round as they discuss her experiences of bullying as a child and the profound effect Roy had on her life. Hayley’s relieved when Roy reveals normal service will be resumed tomorrow.
